He was born in Muğla-Bafa on 11.04.1957. He studied primary, secondary and high school in Söke. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Hacettepe Medical Faculty Internal Medicine Department in 1982-1983 and in the Internal Medicine Department of Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Medicine in 1983-1986. He became an associate professor in 1998 and became a professor in 2004. He worked as a lecturer in Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Gastroenterology between 1999-2001. In 2001, he was appointed to the Department of Gastroenterology at Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Medicine.
He married in 1985. His wife Ayşe Sibel worked as a lecturer in the geology department at KTÜ and retired. She has two children, Nil and Ege.
Their biggest passions are; He is a very good football audience. His second biggest passion is BRIC. He is still working as the president of Trabzon Bridge Sports Club. The bridge develops the mind just like chess, keeps you vigorous and enables you to use your intelligence. It increases your concentration power and duration. The bridge prevents dementia. I recommend everyone to play bridge.
