He was born in Ankara in 1964. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education at TED Ankara College. After graduating from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1987, he completed his specialization in "ENT-Head and Neck Surgery" in Hacettepe Department of Otorhinolaryngology. Following his specialization, he continued as a lecturer at the same university. After his specialty training, he conducted research as a "research assistant" at the University of Toronto Mount Sinai Hospital in Canada between 1993-1994. USA. By successfully completing the USMLE exams, between 1998-1999 He worked as a lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He started his academic career in 1995 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of ENT Head and Neck Surgery at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. He became Associate Professor in 1996 and Professor in 2003.

Professor Sefik Hosal has book chapters and articles published in more than 100 national and international books and journals. Panel chairman or panel speaker took part in many national and international scientific meetings, gave various lectures, courses and made scientific presentations abroad and in the country.

In Turkey, "Head and Neck Cancer Association" is also one of the founders and currently the Secretary General. IFHNOS (International Federation of Head and Neck Oncology Association) board members and representatives of Turkey IFHNOS. He is a board member of APTS (Asia Pacific Society of Thyroid Surgery). He is currently the Secretary General of EHNS (European Head and Neck Association), which has 2700 members in Europe.
