I am a faculty member at Ege University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Nephrology. I graduated from this faculty in 1974 and completed my internal medicine and nephrology residency training in this faculty. My field of study is nephrology, which is the branch of internal medicine specialization related to kidney diseases and hypertension. I did research at Tulane University in USA between 1984-1987. I am one of the founders of the Kidney Transplant Program at Ege University. I have been working extensively on the subjects of clinical nephrology and dialysis and kidney transplantation in Chronic Renal Failure since 1982. I am a member of Turkish Nephrology (TND), European (ERA-EDTA) and International (ISN) Nephology Societies.
I served on the editorial board of NDT and Kidney International journals. I have been a Board Member of TND and ERA EDTA. In 2013, ERA-EDTA awarded me the title of FERA (ERA distinguished member) for my contributions to the association. I am one of the founders of the Balkan Nephrology Association (BANTAO) and I was the president of this association for two terms, I am currently a member of the council. I was the Editor of the BANTAO Journal (BJ), the magazine of this association. Knowing that it is a social profession, I chose medicine as a family profession. I believe that it is always possible for patients to be helped even in their most difficult moments.
Considering that patients should be evaluated with all their dimensions, I attach importance to treating the patient as an Internal Diseases Specialist at the same time. Especially in a kidney patient, all systems can be affected, and kidneys may also be affected in many systemic diseases. For this reason, my interest in diseases such as heart disease, infectious disease, blood disease, rheumatic disease and Diabetes continues vividly. In addition to my nephrology specialization, I also work as an internal medicine specialist.
