Prof. Dr. Özlem Durmaz was born in Istanbul, graduated from Kadıköy Anatolian High School after completing primary school in Istanbul, Ankara and Naples, and completed her medical education at Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical Faculty. After the specialty examination in medicine, he became a Child Health and Diseases specialist in 1997 as a result of the education he received at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Child Health and Diseases.
Prof. Dr. Özlem Durmaz has started to work in Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Child Health and Diseases, Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition since August 26, 1997. He completed his sub-branch thesis on “Polymerase gene mutations during the use of nucleoside analogues in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B infection in children” during this period as a specialist and earned the title of pediatric gastroenterology sub-branch specialist on April 16, 2001. During his studies in Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition Division, he increased his knowledge and skills on pediatric liver transplantation at Kings College Hospital Hepatology Institute in London for 1 month, and then, follow-up and preparation for pediatric liver transplantation patients performed at Istanbul Medical Faculty and as a pediatric hepatologist in post-transplant follow-up.
